IFS Food

In 2003 the associated members of the German retail federation and of its French counterpart drew up a quality and food safety standard for retailer branded food products, named the IFS Food, which is intended to allow the assessment of suppliers’ food safety and quality systems, in accordance with a uniform approach.

Since its establishment in 2003, IFS Food has been developed into an internationally accepted standard. Because of the worldwide expansion of IFS, the IFS Board has decided to have the IFS Food safety criteria ”benchmarked“ by the GFSI.
