BRCGS Agents & Brokers

The BRCGS Agents & Broker Standard is designed to facilitate the trade of products and provide a critical link in the movement of products and maintaining an effective chain of traceability.

Brokers: Companies that purchase or ‘take title to’ products for resale to manufacturers, other brokers, retailers or food service companies but not directly to the consumer.

Agents or non-manufacturing service providers: Companies that trade between a manufacturer or broker and their customers but do not at any point own or take title to the goods. Such companies provide a range of services to facilitate the safe and legal trade of products.

This standard cannot be use by companies which directly handle products such as activities relating to manufacture of food or packaging, distribution or storage activities as well as the trading of e.g. livestock, animal feed for livestock and bulk fuels.

BRCGS frequently (typically every 3 years) updates the standards in line with newly emerging developments and GFSI requirements.

The current BRCGS Agents & Brokers Standard is in Issue 2.

Be aware that BRCGS may publish several position statements and guidance documents during the life cycle of the standard. These additional statements and guidance documents may be binding to the certification audit process.
