The BRCGS Packaging & Packaging Materials Standard is specifically designed for any manufacturer producing packaging materials for all types of products - from food to consumer products - at all levels: primary, secondary and tertiary.
This standard cannot be applied to activities relating to manufacture of food or to wholesale, importation, distribution or storage outside the direct control of the company.
BRCGS frequently (typically every 3 years) updates the standards in line with newly emerging developments and GFSI requirements.
The current BRCGS Packaging Standard is in Issue 6.
Be aware that BRCGS may publish several position statements and guidance documents during the life cycle of the standard. These additional statements and guidance documents may be binding to the certification audit process.
Additional Vulnerary Modules (AVM) have been designed allow a business site to demonstrate compliance to specific sets of requirements to meet market or consumer requirements. The voluntary modules can be added to any of the full certification audits. Here are some examples of AVMs: Traded Goods, Environmental Awareness.

Testimonial
We are working with QSD for 12 years and have recently maintained our Grade AA in the BRCGS Packaging Standard Issue 6. Ulrich of QSD plays a vital role in achieving this as he continuously gives us technical and legal updates. His knowledge of BRCGS and the packaging standard and legal requirements is enormous. More important Ulrich is easy to deal with and he is genuinely interested in providing practical solutions. I highly recommend Ulrichs services.
