The ISO 22000:2018 is developed by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO). This standard is applicable to all organisations that are directly or indirectly involved in the food chain such as food and feed producers, organisations providing food services, catering service, transportation, storage and distribution.

FSSC (Foundation Food Safety System Certification) develops several food and non-food standards. The FSSC 22000 for Food Safety Systems is based on ISO 22000 but requires the compliance with additional technical requirements and a more detailed prerequisite programme (PRP).
Benefits
The standard for FSSC 22000 for Food Safety Systems is mainly implemented by manufacturers that are already certified against ISO 22000. These food business operators will only need an additional review against technical specifications for sector PRPs to meet this certification scheme. Food businesses implementing a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in accordance to this standard will obtain full GFSI accepted FSSC 22000 certification.
